The Library Trustees consists of six members who are elected for staggered terms of three years. The Board establishes and oversees policy for the governing of the library. The Trustees receive no remuneration for their services.

Library Trustee Vacancy September 2022

Due to the loss of 17-year Trustee, Jane Allen, the Library Trustees have a vacancy on their six member board. This position would begin immediately upon appointment and be open to election at the next town election in May. The Trustees meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 pm.

The Trustees oversee all operations of the public library, establish policies, and serve as advocates for good library service. Library Trustees attend monthly meetings and serve on active sub-committees: Building and Equipment; Policy, Personnel, and Planning; and Budget and Finance.

Interested Groton residents should send a brief letter expressing their desire to be considered and the reason for their interest to the Library Trustees at or c/o the Library Director ( at the Groton Public Library, 99 Main St., by September 30, 2022.

The Trustees will conduct interviews in October and the vacancy will be filled by a joint majority vote of the Board of Library Trustees and the Select Board at a joint meeting on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022.
