Specialty Items are non-traditional things you can check out with your library card, often known as a "Library of Things."

  • Basketballs

    The Children's Room has 2 basketballs to borrow for 2 hours for use at the court behind the library. First come, first served.

  • eReaders

    Kobo and Nook eReaders are pre-loaded with many popular adult fiction and nonfiction titles. Additional eReaders are available with Young Adult and Children's books. Remember, when there's a wait list for the current bestseller, there may be a copy you can read today on one of our eReaders. You can also ask at the Circulation Desk about download on demand. Not only are eReaders a great way to carry a small library with you, but you can also increase the text size as much as you wish, making them wonderful for adaptive reading.

    eReaders check out for three weeks and can be renewed twice.

  • Mobile WiFi Hotspots

    Going on a trip? Is your internet down? Reserve a Mobile Hotspot! Mobile Hotspots serve as a mobile internet network by converting an LTE connection into a WiFi signal. Multiple users can connect to one hotspot. Mobile Hotspots check out for one week and are not available for renewal.

    Expert Tip: Going on a trip? Want a hotspot for a certain week in the future? Place a hold on it, then suspend the hold in your account with a suspension end date 1 week before you want it. You will likely be at the top of hold queue when the suspension releases.

  • Chess Sets

    GPL has several chess sets available for checkout. Chess sets go out for 3 weeks with 2 renewals. Please see the circulation desk for more information.
