2019/2020 Young Adult Winter Reading Challenge
for Grades 6-12

December 20 - February 21

Who: Young Adults, in grades 6-12

What:Receive a prize for every 2 books you read

  • Read 2 books total – Receive a free GPL hot beverage coupon, and a bookmark
  • Read 4 books total – Receive a $5 Dunkin' Donuts Gift Card
  • Read 6 books total – Receive a free Advanced Reader's Copy Book
  • Read 8 books total – Receive a $10 Amazon Gift Card and we'll donate $5 to Loaves & Fishes Food Bank
  • Read 10 books total – Receive a Raffle Ticket and "Book" Worm on a String for every 2 more books you read
  • Grand prize is a Book Lover's Goody Bag

Where: Sign up ONLINE or at the library

When: December 20, 2019 - February 21, 2020

  • Sign-up starts December 20, 2019
  • Read books between December 20 and February 21 to earn prizes
  • Drawing for the Book Lover's Goody Bag will take place on March 3


  • Sign up ONLINE, using your library card number and PIN
  • Check out books to read or audiobooks to listen to from the YA or Adult areas
  • Record your reading online once you have signed up
  • Bring your card and come in person to the mid-level Circulation Desk to collect your prizes and raffle tickets

Guidelines for Success:

  • Sign up online with a valid library card and PIN number. (If you do not have a PIN number, come to the library mid-level circulation desk to get one.)
  • Record what you read using the online program on our website.
  • Any books, ebooks or audiobooks from the Young Adult or Adult sections count as 1 book, but please count every 3 magazines, manga, or graphic fiction as 1 entry or 1 book. Please only count reading that is appropriate for your age and reading ability. Books from the Children’s Room that are also found in YA count as well.
  • We want to know you and we want you to know us, so please come to the library in person to choose books and collect prizes, and always bring your library card with you.
  • Need help finding fun and interesting books? Check the YA Idea Book or ask a librarian, if you need suggestions on what to read, or check the Good Reads for YA section of the website.
  • Challenge yourself based on your own reading abilities.
  • Please come in person with your library card to collect your prizes. You must return overdue items and pay any late fees before you can collect prizes.
