Summer Reading

August 21, 2009, marked the end of another successful Summer Reading Program, Starship Adventure @ Your Library. This year, 547 children participated in the Summer Reading Program (read at least 2 hours) and we recorded a grand total of 6,108 hours of reading. 76 children completed 24 hours or more of reading and 30 children read over 24 hours! Congratulations to the readers and families for all their hard work! Thank you to all for making the Groton Public Library’s Summer Reading Program a huge success.

The Children’s Room invites the participation of all children, ages 18 months through Grade 5, in the Library’s annual Summer Reading Program. Sign-up for the 8-week program begins in June. Read books—earn prizes—join in all the fun activities at the Library! Weekly activities may include special storytimes and performances, crafts and games, movies, and more. We plan events that will be appropriate for different age groups, from the littlest pre-readers up through Grade 5. (Students in grade 6-12 are invited to participate in the YA Summer Reading Program.) You do not have to be a Groton resident to join in the fun.

This spot is the place to come for information of the Summer Reading Program each year.
