The GPL IM reference service is intended to provide answers to brief reference questions, and to assist GPL patrons with library services and materials. Please keep in mind that sometimes the Reference Librarian is away from the desk. If you do not receive a reply right away, try again in a few minutes, or if you need immediate assistance, call 978-448-8000.

Live Chat 24/7 Ask a Librarian Service
MassAnswers is an online chat reference service that lets you ask questions and get answers, in real time, from reference staff at some of the best libraries across Massachusetts and the country. It’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
You will be communicating with a librarian who does not work at your local library. The librarian may be from another Massachusetts library, or outside our State at another library in the 24/7 network.
Once you are connected, please do not use your “forward”, or “refresh” buttons, or you will be disconnected. Just click on MassAnswers to get started!
Before sending your question, please read the following important information. Have you:
- Searched GPL’s online catalog to find the material you want?
- Checked GPL’s databases for available information sources?
