The library is open Sunday afternoons from September to April.
The Groton Public Library will follow the town of Groton’s Holiday Policy during Groton Town Hall’s regular business hours (Mondays, 8am-7pm; Tuesdays through Thursdays, 8am-4pm; and Fridays, 8am-1pm). In addition to the Monday holidays, the library will be closed in observance of New Years Day (January 1), Independence Day (July 4), Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (December 25).
On the evenings before three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s), the Library will close early. The exact time of closing for each eve will be decided by the Library Trustees each year when the holiday closing schedule is approved.
The Groton Public Library will follow the town of Groton’s Inclement Weather and Other Emergencies Policy during the Groton Town Hall’s regular business hours (Mondays, 8am-7pm; Tuesdays through Thursdays, 8am-4pm; and Fridays, 8am-1pm). Outside of these hours, the Library Director will decide when to close or delay opening of the Library in the event of inclement weather or other conditions. When weather conditions are severe, the Library will not open. In other circumstances the Library may close early or delay opening. The time of opening will depend on the storm.
When the Groton-Dunstable schools are closed, or have a delayed opening, any scheduled children’s program will be cancelled. During inclement weather, patrons must contact the library to see if other programs have been cancelled.
In the case of insufficient staffing, because of illness or other reason, the Library Director has the discretion to close the library. Employees who are sick would be charged sick time and employees who are not sick may be required to work in the closed library and will be paid for the hours worked.
